TJM ensure that every component and accessory is consistently manufactured to the highest standards. The use of laser scanning equipment and 3D design software keeps TJM at the forefront of prototype development, from concept through to production. Manufacturing facilities employ the latest machinery including CNC machine centres, laser cutters, plasma cutters and state of the art mandrel pipe benders operated by a highly skilled work force, guarantees exceptional accuracy and product quality.

AIRBAG FUNCTIONALITY

Airbags are a common safety feature on most new vehicles. These inflatable devices are mounted around the vehicle cabin to protect the occupants in the event of an accident, frontal or side impact. Activated by sensors located at various points on the vehicle, the airbags are designed to trigger on collision. The mounting systems of TJM frontal protection systems (bull bars and grille guards) and some side steps are specifically engineered to allow these sensors to operate normally.

INDEPENDENT CERTIFICATION

TJM conducts extensive virtual, static and dynamic impact testing on airbag compatible products. The virtual software based, dynamic on-car crash tests and static pendulum crash test performed by independent testing authorities confirm that the TJM frontal protection systems are safe, effective and airbag compatible.

CRUMPLE ZONES & CRUSH CANS

Crumple Zones and/or Crush Cans are commonly used in modern vehicles to provide a ‘soft zone’ for improved occupant protection in frontal collisions. On certain 4WDs, crush cans are installed only on air bag equipped vehicles to provide this soft zone feature.
In accordance with Australian Design Rules (ADR69) for vehicles, TJM frontal protection systems, via the specifically engineered airbag compatible mounting system designs, effectively provide an additional “soft zone” on 4WD vehicles.

WINCH INSTALATIONS & AIRBAG VFPS

Recovery winches are a common addition to many 4WD vehicles, the most popular installation being with TJM’s T13 and T15 VFPS. The extra weight of the winch (between 40kg and 60kg) and its location in relation to the bull bar and the vehicle chassis frame is critical when engineering for correct air bag triggering and deployment. Fitment of a winch must not compromise the bull bar’s mounting systems from deforming in the event of a collision. TJM frontal protection systems are engineered for airbag compatibility with and without a winch installed.

SIDE BARS & AIRBAGS

TJM Side Bars are independently tested for frontal impact applications where attached to air bag compatible bull bars to ensure compatibility and airbag deployment is maintained on airbag equipped vehicles.
